Great Start to ACCL/Aspire School to Club 2025
The successful collaboration among Cairns West, Balaclava State School, Hockey Australia, Hockey Queensland, Cairns Hockey, Astute - Getting Kids Places, Mazon, Select Sport, Cairns Safer Streets, and Trinity Stingers Hockey Club has effectively launched the School to Club participation pathway programme. This initiative has already seen an impressive turnout, with over 45 students in the U8 and U10 age groups participating every Friday in the Hockey Heroes programme at Cairns Hockey.
This structured pathway not only fosters skill development in young athletes but also promotes a sense of community and camaraderie among participants. The active engagement of local organisations demonstrates a commitment to nurturing talent and providing children with the opportunity to explore the sport of hockey in a supportive environment. As these young players develop their skills and confidence, they pave the way for future success both on and off the field.
Continued support and collaboration from all stakeholders will be essential in maintaining the momentum of this programme, ensuring that it remains a valuable asset to the youth of Cairns. The positive impact on both the participants and the broader community is already evident, and the future looks promising for upcoming young hockey enthusiasts.
